OD 35: Legend of Pampam Part 2/4

Part 2
In this entry, or part, whatever, I became the second best at something, and it feels good. I wrote the little things in life I discovered, and teasers for some short stories.

Though, some of the little thing I wrote isn't actually the little things. They're like small bursts of life updates. Think something like Twitter. By the way, Facebook/Twitter/Line/Instagram: @aexeonn *shameless self-promotion*

Do you know how much I wanted to turn to stone and crumble yesterday? Yeah. Coca-cola spilling accident with Kai, Ari, and costumers at McDonald's

MILK2015 Bakrie event. Once in a lifetime.

See those two short entries above? I might have to make a separate post for them alone, not because they are long but because they're compressed in my mind and the theme won't fit with the rest of the post. Also, big ass time gaps! Unfortunately, you should expect more of them in future posts.

Anyway, good morning, boys and girls. How are you doing? All fine and dandy, I hope. Me? I'm fine too, thank you. Although I'm sure I'm gonna be a raggedy ball of mess at the end of the day because now, every Monday, my day ends at around 10 at night. Imagine that, 17 hours outside the house, and I still have to come early the next day.

This significant change was brought upon me after I received my TOEFL result. Oh, I never told you about that, huh...

So, some weeks ago there was a TOEFL pretest to categorize students into their appropriate levels of skill. This pretest is a prerequisite before taking the preparation course and then the actual test. Its mandatory and we need a score of 450 minimum to past this test and 500-ish to graduate by the end of the 7th or 8th semester, all 700 of us. After that's done, I waited for 2 ~ 3 weeks for the results. To me, the test itself wasn't really hard at all. Sure there were some confusing parts because its hard for me to understand huge bodies of texts and I missed some hints in the audio recordings, but the rest was just your average English exam.

Now, some days ago after a class, I received a chat message from... whoever-the-fuck, saying the test results have arrived and I'm a top scorer. I was like, "Holy shit! Wait, nah, no way." I made a 180° turn and sought out the bulletin board where the results were posted, and I saw the English Class Rep standing there. We looked at our score together and the result surprised me, but it didn't satisfy the Class Rep that much. I really thought I scored the highest but the shock also made me not believe it. My suspicions were confirmed after a girl posted the whole bulletin board on a chat room. I took off to look at the scores on my phone after realizing the Class Rep has left me without saying a thing.

*disappoint...*

I thoroughly scanned the whole damn thing and found out I'm not the top scorer. My friend from a different college major is. I was the second best out of 700-ish students.

Aex: 607
Top score: 610
English Class Rep: 450-ish
Nana: 550-ish
Average: 300 ~ 450

Below the results are the class divisions based on scores. High score means high priority, and I got the earliest class there is. The thing is, though, it starts at 18:30 and ends at 20:00. Plus the time spent going home, I'm probably gonna get home at 22:00. And then I still have to do assignments and prepare for the next day, all the while trying to get enough rest.

Life is hard.

Hey.

So, last week, on Thursday 24th, it was Eid al-Adha for us Muslims and it was a day off. Since that day onwards, the frequency of my activities have increased by a significant amount and I'm basically working my ass off whenever I have my socks on. Try as I might, I missed many important meetings on college and it might threaten my progress.

...sigh. I'm going to take a break because mid-semester tests are coming up and I still have to put this up on the site.

...oh god, I just remembered I haven't touched the Untimed draft since I went through orientation.

Man.

Okay, that's gonna do it for now. Thanks for tuning in, boys and girls. See you later.

~The Little Things~

Below here I'm gonna write the little things I've noticed in my life after entering college in no specific order.

  1. Unlike what I've predicted previously, I still ride in Dad's car to depart or come home from campus. As a side effect, I became closer to Dad than I am to Mom. We'll have to see if I'll eventually go by myself in the future, though.
  2. I forgot to write this in the previous entry (OD35 part 1). Dad bought a motorcycle for my bro. It made his mood better overall but doesn't change him significantly. Still spending his time in front of the PC.
  3. It has come to my realization that the end of the week doesn't mean the end of college. I've had classes and/or events on weekends and I'm sure they're not the last ones. As a side effect I've learned how to manage my time and plan for the future, to a certain extent. I still procrastinate, though.
  4. College took a large part of my time in a day so that I couldn't even listen to music or watch anime.  They're like luxury items to me now. Even on a free day, I can't completely relax and spend the day on myself. I have to finish assignments. #AssignmentsErryday. Until this entry is written, I haven't watched any anime since the orientation days.
  5. Because I ride the car every morning and evening, listening to the same radio channel all month, I began to know what pop music is on the rise. This is how I listen to music nowadays, involuntarily. Also, I dislike pop music.
  6. I noticed a tiny... gimmick, you might say. A gimmick on how my fellow college students chat. This is gonna sound a bit weird. So, they like to reverse words while chatting, but only on a reaction. Say, someone said "gila" which means crazy, like, "that's crazy!" They'll say "alig" instead. Yzarc.
  7. My bandwidth usage pattern has become completely erratic. Often I don't have time to surf my social medias and/or watch YouTube, other times I could and I would use up my internet very rapidly. There are also times where I went online for hours and hours but I don't use the internet very heavily because I'm only dealing with group chats. #ChatsErryday
  8. If I have some free time on campus, I mostly spend them waiting, idling. Unlike homeschooling, the campus has strict rules and a lot of people inside it. I can't do what I usually do, which is stay in class, because of the moving class system. I also can't just freely eat around the campus because they're so strict about being clean, and there's very few trash bins. So, I walk, and... yeah.
  9. I walk 20 ~ 70 minutes a day, everyday. #WalkEr- okay.
  10. On August 29th, I weight at about 109 kg, that's 240 lbs for you metric illiterates. By the time I'm writing this (October 5th) I weight around 100 kg or 220 lbs. Its the small victories that keeps you going in life.
  11. My hands started to wrinkle as if I stayed underwater for long periods of time since I started college. Maybe its just me losing weight. It would be normal if my thighs get thinner but the hands? The palms and fingers? I might be severely dehydrated.
  12. There are no windows with outside view in my campus. There are windows, but it leads into other rooms instead of outside. You can't see the sky unless you go outside.
  13. I now have 4 pairs of shoes. How the number jumped from 1 pair to 4 is kinda complicated. This is gonna be lengthy compared to the other numbers. First, I have the ol' faithful shoes I wore throughout high school, some kind of sport shoes. Then I have to buy a new pair of shoes for a particular dress code I have to wear once a week. Every Wednesdays I have to dress up like I'm applying for work with formal stuff and the likes. While we're at it, Dad asked me whether if I wanted a new pair of shoes or not, and I thought why not. Since I have smelly feet (yes, yes, I know.) I thought it would be a good idea to rotate which shoes I wear throughout the week. So I now have 3 pairs. 2 pairs of sport shoes and a pair of leather formal shoes thing. The next thing I know is that I have to buy a regular-ass-mainstream-cool-kids'-swag shoes for an event. I never used it after that. Its such a waste of money, I know, but it feels fucking horrible wearing those.
  14. The campus library is my retreat whenever I want to idle. Is that how you're supposed to say it? I don't know. Waiting for my Dad to pick me up, waiting for the next class to begin if there's a time gap longer than 10 minutes, waiting to meet up  with someone, waiting in general.
  15. My other go to location to hide is the stadium. its fairly empty in most occasions. Why I wrote "hide" instead of "idle" is because that's what I do there, hide during Friday prayer, and watch YouTube. I no longer believe in god as I entered college, but I don't openly state it because "religious freedom" is a thing but "atheism" is considered a moral crime or something,
